Mars Retrograde Shadow 2016 (mid Feb through late Aug)

This week, Mars in Scorpio enters its 'shadow' period for its pending retrograde (Apr 17-Jun 29) which will last through mid-late August. In addition, Venus entered Aquarius on Tuesday evening and the Sun shifts into Pisces on Thursday evening.


The energy shifts this week are EASING us into the efforts that will occupy our time over the next 6 MONTHS or so. This retrograde of Mars will cover the section of the zodiac from 23° Scorpio through 9° Sagittarius. So, this is the part of OUR CHARTS that will be in focus!

Feb 17-Apr 17 - Over this period, we will see the THEMES for the Mars retrograde introduce themselves. Many of our unconscious ACTIONS and HABITS for approaching life may be CHALLENGED as HOW we have always 'done ' things and/or approached situations will begin to produce less RESULTS relative to our intentions.


April 17-Jun 29 - This is the actual retrograde period when Mars will RETRACE the portion of the zodiac where it traveled between mid-Feb and mid-Apr. During this time, we are EXPERIMENTING with different OPTIONS for achieving what we are intending as the last couple of months have convinced us of the futility of DOING things the same ol' way. This is a time of TRIAL and ERROR so being PATIENT with ourselves and others is what is called for now!


Jun 29-Aug 22 - After Mars turns direct, it will then move forward through this same portion of the zodiac as it did from mid-Feb through mid-Apr. However, at this time, we will have FIGURED OUT what WORKS and what no longer works with regards to our APPROACH to the world and HOW we attempt to get things ACCOMPLISHED. The more patient we are during the retrograde period, the more likely we are to ALIGN most EFFICIENTLY with those approaches that WILL lead us to our goals through the rest of the summer and into the fall!

Generally, with Mars retrograding from Sagittarius back into Scorpio over the next 6 months, it covers the portion of the zodiac where Saturn traveled over most of 2015.


Saturn's job last year was to REVEAL our darkness to us so that we may ACCEPT it and move FORWARD knowing that the 'cold hard truth' is part of our WHOLE TRUTH and that only from this place of WHOLENESS can we truly be POWERFUL and EFFECTIVE in the world!


This time it is Mars' turn to REMIND us that our ACTIONS must MATCH our TRUTH in order for us to ACCOMPLISH our deepest SOUL intentions! Any actions that do not align with our souls will become OBVIOUS and the more conscious we are in recognizing them, the easier it will be to ACCEPT and RELEASE them making room for more APPROPRIATE actions that DO reflect our truth as we head toward the FUTURE!

Saturn square Neptune (Nov 2015 - Sep 2016): Climate Change Deception Unveiled?

In terms of my background and education, I graduated with a BS in Meteorology and followed it up with an MS in Atmospheric Science with an emphasis on human -induced greenhouse gas emissions and climate change before adjusting my professional direction (i.e. transpersonal applications using astrology). This is the reason for my personal interest in understanding the evolution of the global climate change narrative as it relates to astrological cycles.

Astrologically speaking, from November 2015 through September 2016, the outer planets Saturn and Neptune are forming a waning square (90°) with one another from the signs of Sagittarius and Pisces, respectively. This pits the planet representing form, structure, rules, resistance, and fear (Saturn) at odds with the planet representing dreams, deception, mysticism, and the masses (Neptune).

So, how does Saturn squaring Neptune or astrology itself have anything to do with climate change? For a brief introduction in terms of the use of astrology for practical purposes, please see the article at this link however in terms of applying this understanding of astrological cycles to this contentious global issue, just stay with me... 

Saturn is currently in Sagittarius, suggesting that at this time it is with regards to our collective BELIEFS and the future direction of our society based on these beliefs that we are attempting to gain STRUCTURE and a set of new rules to follow. And with regards to the climate change issue, this is exactly where we find ourselves now as global leaders have been convening to make decisions about the future of the world in terms of what we collectively believe to be the primary cause of observed climate change (i.e. human-induced greenhouse gas emissions).

As you will see later in this article, it is these BELIEFS regarding the primary causes of observed climate change that are in question and the popular narrative is likely to breakdown over the coming months as hidden truths and deceptions come to light. 

Just so we have a better grip as to where we are within the current Saturn/Neptune cycle over the next several months, know that just like with the Moon’s phases, the other planetary bodies move through their own phases relative to the Earth. 

Whether it is the monthly cycle between the Sun and the Moon or between any other two planetary bodies, the start of any coupled planetary cycle begins with their conjunction (i.e. New Moon). Then, as the faster planet moves away from the slower planet, eventually they form a 90° angle (waxing square) to each other, followed by the 180° opposition (i.e. a Full Moon), then the second 90° angle (waning square), and then the cycle finishes when a new cycle between the planets is born at the next conjunction.

Below is a basic outline of the process including the associated general energy experience related to each of these important climax points in the planetary cycles:

Conjunction (0°) – Birth and creation.

Waxing Square (90°) – Tension due to growth.

Opposition (180°) – Culmination and results.

Waning Square (270°) – Tension due to decay.

In terms of the Saturn/Neptune cycle, this time period from November 2015 through September 2016 is the waning phase of tension due to decay and the cycle initiated with a conjunction between Saturn and Neptune in the sign of Capricorn in 1989. In other words, the ideas and narratives that were birthed or initiated at the start of the cycle (1989), are facing challenges to stay intact as attempts to create concrete structures for the future (Saturn in Sagittarius) are conflicting with the ability to see the whole truth of the situation as deception is revealed and potentially manipulated (Neptune in Pisces) to further the original agenda.

In applying the general pattern of astrological cycles to the one in question, note that the entire Saturn/Neptune cycle takes approximately 36 years to complete from conjunction to conjunction and it represents a time of controlled deception and/or the implementation of plans for the masses as the structural energies of Saturn assist in forming the dreamlike 'visionary' energy of Neptune.

Below is a look at the current Saturn/Neptune cycle relative to global climate change concerns and relative to my own personal/professional involvement with it. It also includes a look at where we are now in the current Saturn/Neptune cycle (waning square):

Current Saturn/Neptune Cycle

(1989 – 2025)

Saturn conjunct Neptune in Capricorn from February 1989 – November 1989

Amidst a relatively hot summer across the lower 48 states in 1988, climate expert James Hansen of NASA declared that 'global warming' had begun. Then in November of 1989, Margaret Thatcher of England gave a speech at the UN General Assembly that likely established the climate change narrative as we know it in terms of it being caused by human-induced greenhouse emissions and as a global political intention/agenda. (Margaret Thatcher - UN General Assembly Climate Change Speech (1989)   ) Astrologically, this is consistent with the energy of Saturn joining Neptune in the sign of Capricorn (i.e. governments, laws, restrictions). At that time, it was also suggested through the UN that the Earth had entered a 10-yr tipping point and that its inhabitants would need to restrict carbon emissions in order to reduce the greenhouse effect to prevent total climate catastrophe by the end of the 20th century. Two things didn't happen. We didn't curtail human greenhouse gas emissions and there was no climate catastrophe. In terms of my personal journey, I spent the fall of 1988 through the spring of 1989 as a 4th grader who was being introduced to the science of Meteorology as part of an extracurricular program. This experience had a MAJOR influence on my life direction.

Saturn (Aries/Taurus) waxing square to Neptune (Capricorn/Aquarius) from June 1998 - April 1999

In 1998 and 1999, I was a college student majoring in Meteorology. By the summer of 1999, I was starting to question my life path while also being introduced to new potential careers that were emerging in the meteorology field. While most people equate presenting the weather on 'the news' as the only professional outlet for meteorologists, the majority of career options actually lie outside of this realm. And one of the fastest growing new industries for meteorological professionals during the late 1990's was that of 'weather risk management'. In fact in 1999, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) first introduced exchange-traded weather futures. With this introduction, energy companies and any other company with a bottom line significantly affected by the weather had a mechanism for trading weather derivatives in order to hedge against losses due to unexpected weather events. This is energetically consistent with Saturn in Taurus squaring Neptune in Aquarius by the end of this period as those with the means and the incentive now had a monetized structure (Saturn in Taurus) to trade 'nebulous' futures (Neptune in Aquarius). And while this may seem innocent enough and in some ways brilliant, we will see in a moment how these financial incentives to manipulate the weather may be part of a larger deception that perhaps reveals the intention of the global climate change narrative as we know it. And just a reminder that this waxing square period in the late 1990s was a time to make adjustments to that which was initiated during the conjunction period in 1989.

Saturn (Leo) opposite Neptune (Aquarius) from August 2006 - July 2007

By late 2006 through mid 2007, I was working professionally as a environmental planner and as a sustainable building consultant. My primary intention for working in these professional fields was to assist in reducing greenhouse gas emissions to curtail climate change as I had 'bought into' the collective climate change narrative up until this point in my life. In 2006, Al Gore's documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth" was also released which represented the 'culmination' of public awareness of the climate change narrative and the 'need' to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to prevent a global catastrophe. There were several inaccuracies in this film but nonetheless it became the primary reference for climate change activists. Also, in 2006 the UN climate talks were held in Nairobi which resulted in one of the first general consensus' amongst world leaders for global greenhouse emission reductions. In addition, the European Union completed Phase 1 of carbon trading allocations in 2007 which essentially created a platform for making money through trading carbon just as weather derivatives in the late 1990's were a mechanism for making money trading weather risk. Locally in CA, the state introduced the Global Warming Solutions Act in 2006 which laid out a plan to reduce overall carbon emissions from the state by 2020. Its easy to see that the result of this time period was a culmination (i.e. Full Moon phase) of what was birthed in 1989.

Saturn (Sagittarius) waning square to Neptune (Pisces) from November 2015 - September 2016

While the culmination of resulting emission reduction policies and financial mechanisms in 2006/2007 was directly related to the establishment of the climate change narrative in 1989, its more difficult to understand what weather risk management and trading weather futures in the late 1990's had to do with any of it. Note that if we ASSUME that all pertinent information and research relative to human affects on climate had been included when coming to conclusions on greenhouse gas emission reductions, then weather derivatives would appear irrelevant. But when we consider that the technology to modify and alter the weather has existed for decades, then a potential motive for creating both the climate change narrative and creating weather derivative trading becomes more apparent (more on this at the end of the article). Needless to say, my personal 'reality' has been breaking down with regards to the human-induced greenhouse gas emissions climate change narrative as I am seeing that there have been missing variables related to observed man-made climate change associated with ongoing weather modification which alter the 'consensus' conclusions in terms of what actions may be beneficial to curtail it.

Just below is the timeline for the exact Saturn/Neptune squares through September 2016 when we should see further developments with regards to what has initiated recently during the first exact square in November/December 2015.

November 17-December 4, 2015

The COP21 Paris Climate Conference (Nov 30 - Dec 8) resulted in the first ever legally binding global climate deal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. There was also much discussion regarding 'geoengineering' and weather modification as 'potential' ways to combat and modify climate change.    

June 4-July 5, 2016

Perhaps further attempts to restrict emissions will be brought to the fore? Maybe there will be more public awareness of weather modification and geoengineering? This is pure speculation.

August 23-September 22, 2016

Perhaps a more public awareness of ongoing weather modification is initiated leading to questions regarding the primary cause of man-made climate change and a reduction in the perception of the benefit of curtailing greenhouse gas emissions amidst considering these previously unknown factors? This is also pure speculation.

Putting It All Together

Unlike many 'climate deniers', I am very well educated regarding this topic and I certainly do not deny the science behind the assertion that our observed changes in climate (i.e. alterations in precipitation patterns and seasonal extremes with overall warming due to reduction in outgoing radiation) stem primarily from man-made influences. In fact, until my relatively recent revelations with regards to ongoing weather modification activities, I had ascribed almost exclusively to the narrative that human induced greenhouse gas emissions are the primary cause of observed climate changes.

However, direct modification of the weather for various purposes has a rich history that has obvious implications for affecting climate data and observed changes. Its a history that would require an entire website to adequately address it, let alone a mere blog post. And while there are many sources from which one could find information on this topic, Jim Lee of http://www.climateviewer.com/ has compiled a comprehensive chronology of policies, technological developments and research related to this modern era of geoengineering. If you are completely unfamiliar with the topic, this link is a potent place to start your own research. The most compelling reality to which you are likely to become aware is that the technological capabilities to influence the weather in significant ways are certainly NOT NEW developments!

And in conjunction with the timeline presented here regarding the Saturn/Neptune astrological cycle (i.e. initiating in 1989), there is no coincidence in my opinion that there was an extensive study conducted at Colorado State University during the period from 1989-1997 on weather modification from cloud seeding? Could the intention to monetize the weather and to tax carbon emissions have originally inspired the accusation of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions as the primary driver of observed climate change? Could this accusation simply be a method of 'covering for' and explaining the potential observed climate changes that we would likely to encounter due to these intended weather modification practices? Once the narrative was established in 1989, could there have been a testing period (1989-1997) for altering precipitation prior to the establishment of a weather derivative trading platform in 1998-1999?

While this is all speculation, it was just after this CSU study that weather risk management was essentially created as a financial mechanism. Money has often been a motivating factor without regard for consequences so it would not be a stretch to suggest that 'perhaps' manipulating the weather for profit MAY be resulting in more of a direct influence on observed alterations in precipitation patterns and extreme seasonal abnormalities (i.e. climate change) than are human-induced greenhouse gas emissions which 'may' be indirectly altering weather patterns and precipitation intensity (without a 'direct' link).

After all, science is only 'science' if it is conducted SCIENTIFICALLY. And to conduct something 'scientifically' means to INCLUDE ALL potential factors of causation with regards to an observed result or effect. So, regardless of any intentions to alter the weather for profit that may be implied in this article (or when these practices actually initiated), considering that these weather modification practices are far more common than most climate scientists have included in their assumptions, it behooves us to at the very least CONSIDER these realities before coming to any conclusions in terms of what global policies/actions are required to curtail the perceived eminence of catastrophe (especially considering the error in projection of eminent catastrophe from the UN in 1989).

Taking this further, artificial high cirrus clouds produced by aircraft that persist and expand to cover ever larger portions of the sky contribute to the greenhouse effect (i.e. they result in a net warming as there is more outgoing radiation trapped than there is incoming radiation reflected). And climate scientists are likely to conclude based on known research that the effects of clouds in the climate models (whether high or low clouds) are the MOST difficult variable to predict when it comes to long-range climate predictions. So, if the addition of high clouds from aircraft are a more significant contributor to the observed intensification of the greenhouse effect than are human-induced carbon emissions, then how can we draw policy conclusions without at least including these contributions in the climate models?

What IS certain with regards to climate forcing factors is that water vapor (i.e. that leads to greater condensation or clouds) is a much stronger greenhouse gas than is carbon or any other greenhouse gas currently intensified by human activity! Feel free to research this fact for yourself before deciding to conclude that our own minute personal contributions to carbon emissions from our cars or from meat-eating are the most significant contribution to observed climate changes!

The current climate change narrative suggests that an increase in human-induced greenhouse gases has been resulting in more extreme weather patterns which is leading to more extreme precipitation variances and inter-seasonal variances. This is THEORETICALLY true, however, regardless of what 'can' theoretically result in observed precipitation and weather pattern changes, these OBSERVED changes MAY more simply be the result of a more direct consequence of weather MODIFICATION than of an IN-direct result of the 'potential' influence from human-induced greenhouse gas emissions.

Al Gore has clearly stated that the 'science is settled' with regards to climate change and that part of this 'science' says that human-induced greenhouse gas emissions ARE the primary causative factor. But what Al Gore and others in his camp refuse to acknowledge is that science itself is nothing more than a method of logic which requires the ONGOING iteration and inclusion of incoming information with NO opportunity to be 'settled' in terms of any conclusion!

Conclusions and 'narratives' are the TOOLS of POLITICS and NOT the PRODUCTS of science...period!

Both policy decisions and personal decisions are ALWAYS based on INCOMPLETE information since there is always SOMETHING missing when a CHOICE has to be made. Based on my personal education and experience with regards to natural climate science, it is clear to me that observed climate change over the past several decades IS the result of man-made activities. However, I just happen to ascribe to the camp that uses actual science in the way that it is intended to be utilized which includes allowing for new information for ever more comprehensive analyses.

The complexities of water vapor as a greenhouse gas are scientifically WELL KNOWN and the OBVIOUS evidence of weather modification which includes excess high altitude clouds (condensation of water vapor) is very VISIBLE (see photo below). These important observations are NOT included in the discussions and NOT considered in the CONCLUSIONS (i.e. policy decisions) with regards to the so-called 'settled science' of human-induced greenhouse gas climate change.

And from a policy perspective, the very IDEA of preventing incoming solar radiation (i.e. proposed geoengineering methods of spraying reflective material in the upper atmosphere to reflect sunlight to cool the planet) as a way to counteract a reduction in outgoing thermal radiation (i.e. greenhouse effect) is scientifically absurd even IF greenhouse gas emissions from human-induced carbon sources are the primary drivers of observed climate change!

This would be akin to prescribing someone STARVATION as a way to cure CONSTIPATION. We cannot use outgoing thermal radiation to catalyze photosynthesis so the effects of preventing incoming solar radiation on plant growth may be quite pronounced due to this proposed spraying. And these very same scientists agree with the notion that 'climate change' does not necessarily result in warming everywhere all of the time. Without a consensus on DEFINITE warming this means that attempting to COOL the atmosphere on a grand scale makes NO SENSE relative to the problem. This is absolute insanity!

Geoengineering the planet as suggested at the COP21 Paris Climate Conference would be one hell of an EXPERIMENT and the lives of plants and therefore our own would be at a VERY high risk. Astrologically, its easy to see that struggling (square angle) to construct rules for the future (Saturn in Sagittarius) with nebulous and/or missing information (Neptune in Pisces) is exactly what we are experiencing here!

Without ALL of the causative factors considered regarding observed global climate change, then potential policy decisions on this matter are being proposed by people who are (at the very least)operating outside of scientific integrity!

After all, if ongoing weather modification practices ARE a significant contributor to observed climate change (or the very reason for the deceptive suggestion that human induced emissions are the primary causative factor), then geoengineering the skies to prevent incoming solar radiation would be nothing more than an act of spraying the skies in order to counter the effects of spraying the skies! This notion just may cause my head to explode!..

Are we REALLY using science as it is meant to be utilized in our response to this issue? Or are we just ABUSING science for a political agenda and at our own expense?

Astrologically, this time period (Nov 2015 through Sep 2016) has the potential to REVEAL some deceptions but  also to lead to ever more CONFUSION as both the 'truth' AND the skies get ever CLOUDIER...

Persistent contrails are essentially man-made cirrus clouds which disrupt the thermodynamics of the upper atmosphere reducing convection (potential for rain formation) and trapping outgoing radiation (greenhouse effect). Could this explain observed climate alterations even without considering man-made carbon emissions?

Saturn into Sagittarius - Mercury Retrograde in Libra - Jupiter in Virgo Opposite Neptune in Pisces

From Wednesday through Friday, THREE major astrological shifts are occurring! 

(1) Saturn finishes in Scorpio until 2041 and enters Sagittarius through Dec 2017

(2) Mercury turns retrograde in Libra (Sep 17 - Oct 9) 
(3) Jupiter in Virgo opposes Neptune in Pisces (a cycle that initiated in 2009).

We are FINISHED with the karmic 'closet-cleaning' experience that has lasted almost 3 years as we've been digging DEEP to uncover our darkest and most PAINFUL aspects of SELF-destruction so that we can now LIVE according to our personal TRUTH without FEAR! Like Andy Duphresne in "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994), we have now ALL 'crawled through a river of shit' and come 'out clean on the other side'. And if we have made it this far, CONGRATS!..Saturn leaves Scorpio on Thursday evening not to return until 2041!

And symbolically so, the Moon spends Wednesday morning through Friday evening in the sign of Scorpio as well, almost as if it is serving as the FINAL sweep of the closet that has now been THOROUGHLY cleaned and which is ready to be utilized in a more APPROPRIATE manner for the rest of our journeys going forward.

Back in mid-late 2009, Jupiter joined Neptune in Aquarius to initiate the latest Jupiter/Neptune cycle of EXPANDED IDEALS for the FUTURE and for our unique offering and PLACE in the world. We had high HOPES and were riding almost 'magical' waves of synchronicity and opportunity that were presented to us at that time. And when Uranus entered Aries in 2010, our CONFIDENCE in our unique offerings SURGED as we looked for ever more outlets and opportunities to contribute. What exciting times they were!

However, the square between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn from June 2012 through April 2015 combined with Saturn in Scorpio from October 2012 through September 2015 represented a time of collective RESTRUCTURING as well as personal SOUL SEARCHING where PROGRESS was halted in exchange for PREPARATION for a new phase. So, the CONFIDENCE and MAGIC that fueled and INSPIRED us onward in 2009 and 2010 has seemed to have been 'cut-off' from our own personal ACCESS over the past several years leaving us QUESTIONING our intuitive and creative impulses.

As FRUSTRATING and DEMORALIZING as these past few years may have been for some of us, this time has actually served a purpose. Back in 2009-2010, we were merely caterpillars who were DREAMING of LIVING as butterflies. And now with Jupiter in Virgo opposing Neptune in Pisces and CULMINATING their cycle that initiated back in 2009 and with Saturn moving into Sagittarius, these dreams ARE beginning to MATERIALIZE as we are starting to DO the things in our lives that are aligned with our own personal TRUTHS!

Just like with the caterpillar that MORPHS into a butterfly, we too have had to enter a CHRYSALIS and TRUST that melting into unrecognizable 'goo' would lead to our eventual TRANSFORMATION into the butterfly lives that we had CREATED with our THOUGHTS and INTENTIONS back in 2009-2010!

And with all of the WAITING, disappointment and potential CAVING in to our ideals that may have occurred over the past few years, PATIENCE may be at a premium just now. Yes, it can feel like we have WINGS or that we are finally FREE from prison and that we want to do ALL of the things that we had only dreamed of several years ago, but it’s important to remember that Rome was NOT built in a day!

Virgo is an energy associated with DAILY practice and taking EVERY STEP...CAREFULLY and deliberately! And with last weekend's first Solar Eclipse in Virgo since Regulus entered Virgo in 2012 combined with Jupiter's presence in Virgo from August 2015 through September 2016, Venus' stationary retrograde on Regulus in Virgo back in July, Venus' pending rendezvous with Mars in Virgo in early November and finally the shift of the Moon's north node into Virgo in late November through the spring of 2017, I would say that the message is clear regarding the style of MANIFESTING our dreams...SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE!!

Rather than losing our patience, let's choose to be GRATEFUL that we have the OPPORTUNITY to savor EVERY step along the way toward our IDEALS! If we never lose SIGHT of our dreams and we are CAREFUL to ensure that every seemingly SMALL step that we choose to take is oriented toward the APPROPRIATE direction, then we will bear WITNESS to the FORMATION of our own CREATIONS from the ground-up!

And there is no need to WORRY about the actual TIME that this may require of us. Butterflies operate on a different time and space REALITY than caterpillars. And as CERTIFIED ‘butterflies’, we are no longer required to commit to one tree to CRAWL toward and CLIMB each tree to the end of each branch that we are also committed to in order to score a leafy lunch to which we are LIMITED. Instead, we can FLOAT effortlessly from leaf to leaf and CHOOSE from an abundance of both tree AND leaf options that serve our intentions…while looking BEAUTIFUL in the process! Taking step-by-step DELIBERATE action toward our ideals doesn’t sound so onerous anymore now does it? :)

Alright, so all of this talk about being CAREFUL and taking our time to CREATE our dreams more appropriately leads me to the last energetic aspect of this VERY important week. Yes, Mercury (the ruler of Virgo!) turns retrograde in Libra from Sep 17 through Oct 9. And the TIMING couldn’t be more appropriate!

All Mercury retrogrades are periods for RE-doing, RE-thinking, RE-viewing and RE-adjusting EVERYTHING in our lives! As Mercury moves in retrograde motion, the ILLUSION OF SEPARATION is temporarily dissolved and we are simultaneously INVITED to RE-connect to the universe and all of its abundance of possibilities. This is why our connection devices such as phones, computers, automobiles etc. can be apparently DISRUPTED. They only SEEM to be less than functional because we were never really separated in the first place and therefore never REQUIRED these devices to make our connections!

Specifically speaking, this retrograde of Mercury will occur in the sign of Libra. Therefore, most of our RE-adjusting during this period will be associated with our RELATIONSHIPS and how we PRESENT ourselves to others. We will be RE-negotiating the terms within which we operate with others. For the next few weeks it will also be important that we OPEN up and LISTEN to the feedback from others and perceive it as a RE-flection of our self-presentation. We have the opportunity to learn A LOT about ourselves in the process.

It will also be important for us to ASSESS the people in our lives regarding WHO is a valuable asset relative to our GOALS and our futures versus who simply serves as a continuation of our outdated PERSONAS that we once believed we had to PROVIDE for others in order to be accepted and LOVED by anyone outside of us. In the latter case, it may be time to reluctantly RELEASE some people in order to LIGHTEN our load as we FLOAT toward our next endeavors…

Some of us may even be tempted to JUMP into new personal and/or business associations during this period as people that we meet may give us the feeling that these situations are a RE-union of souls! And while it is VERY possible that we indeed ARE meeting some very important people including our ‘soul-mates’ and such, it will be important to ‘take it SLOW’ and let whatever needs to be ironed out get ironed out before we fully engage in these new associations.

By the time we reach October 9, when Mercury shifts back into direct motion, Venus (the ruler of Libra) will be re-entering the sign of Virgo as it finishes up the shadow period from its recent retrograde (Jul 25 – Sep 6). At that time, it may be CLEARER regarding who is going to WORK for us and which self presentations are APPROPRIATE for our future intentions. If we meet anyone that feels IMPORTANT during the next few weeks, we may also begin to see at that time HOW we can initiate an appropriate partnership with these persons moving forward.

Then when Mars stimulates last weekend’s Solar Eclipse in Virgo in late October followed by Venus joining with Mars in Virgo AND Mercury finishing up in Libra just a few days later on the first day of November, we will be finding PRACTICAL outlets for any new WORKABLE associations and realistically RE-leasing any unworkable situations from our lives! It’s time to GET TO WORK with the people aligned with our path, to properly release those that are out of alignment with our intentions and to ENJOY ourselves in the process!

A September to Remember: Choosing Peace Amidst Distraction

 

The fixed star Regulus will be in Virgo for the next 2,000+ years, the Moon’s north node will be in Virgo for 18 months starting in November and Jupiter will be in Virgo through September 2016 suggesting a burgeoning time of COMMON SENSE and gradual step-by-step approaches to creating ORDER and the manifestation of our dreams. So, we have the opportunity to perceive the next several weeks as the universe conspiring FOR us by providing us with the opportunity to get into the Virgo spirit right ‘off the bat’! And with last weekend’s Solar Eclipse in Virgo and Venus’ re-entry into Virgo on Oct 9 as well as its connection with Mars in Virgo on Nov 1, we are off to a well ORGANIZED start to this process!

So, remember that it’s okay to forget the arduous times that we have experienced being a caterpillar for most of our lives and as the transformational ‘goo’ within the chrysalis over the past few years. Instead it’s appropriate to HONOR each moment of our NEW timeline like the butterflies that we ARE as we enjoy both OUR own colorful beauty and the beauty of the landscapes upon which we CREATE our dreams piece by piece with DELIBERATE precision! And with this advice and our COMMITMENT to the process, our goals CAN be achieved in virtually NO time at all…CONGRATS to ALL of us!

SOLAR ECLIPSE - 20° VIRGO - SAT SEP 12 - 11:41PM PDT

This weekend's Solar Eclipse in Virgo opposes Chiron in Pisces and trines Pluto in Capricorn. Also, Mercury in Libra is close to a sextile to Venus in Leo and Jupiter in Virgo builds to an opposition with Neptune in Pisces as we approach next week's shifts of Mercury into retrograde motion as well as Saturn into Sagittarius.

This eclipse reminds us of our collective WOUNDS surrounding our perception of INSIGNIFICANCE in the greater world.The weight of the world feels HEAVY when we unconsciously EXPECT ourselves to 'make a difference' that reaches EVERYONE!

And while we can feel the HEAVINESS and the pain that this brings up, its important to realize that the purpose of this eclipse during the last few days of Saturn in Scorpio is to allow us the opportunity to RELEASE this energy so that we can move forward toward the activities that SERVE both our souls and the greater world!

Our responsibility with this energy is to ACCEPT that our 'little' part in the world IS worthy and to actually take STEPS toward our TRUTH under the assumption that what we DO in the world DOES make a difference even if we cannot see the RESULTS immediately...

This summer's Venus retrograde from early Virgo back into Leo has allowed us to REevaluate the worthiness of our ROLE in the world with the activities that we DO on a daily basis. Maybe we don't realize just how much influence we DO have?

And before Mercury goes retrograde in Libra next week, we have the opportunity to begin the process of REassessing the 'roles' that we HAVE played with others and whether these still serve OUR needs as well...
In childhood, we unconsciously fall into roles for others based mostly on the FEARS associated with survival. "If I am not THIS way for others, then I will not be loved or accepted by them!". It can FEEL as though the WORLD will fall apart if we choose to discard our old roles when in actuality it is our insistence on HOLDING onto these roles as our IDENTITY which prevents our TRUTH from leading the way...and which prevents us from JOINING with others on a similar soul PATH!

It may be PAINFUL to contemplate it but our fears that we will have 'nothing to DO' in the world if we simply ARE who we are CAN be released! And NOW is the time...

If we instead FOCUS on our SOUL ROLE in the world rather than on the perceived role of our EGO and choose to RElease the attachments to BEing what we perceive others WANT us to be FOR them, then the OPTIONS for our authentic PARTICIPATION in the world will EXPAND and the people and partnerships will OPEN with them!

Jupiter in Virgo expands the TASKS when we release the PAST!..i.e. the past of putting the weight of the ENTIRE world on our shoulders. And combined with Saturn entering Sagittarius for the next two years, it is time to 'walk our talk' and FOCUS on living our truth in EVERY action as our options to do so become more ABUNDANT!

With Mercury in Libra and retrograde for most of the period from now through the end of October, we will be FACING and releasing our outdated unconscious 'survival' ROLES and beginning to MERGE with those souls with whom our TRUE roles can shine forth!

Leading up to Halloween, Mars will stimulate the degree of this eclipse, followed by Mercury exiting Libra and Mars joining Venus in Virgo in the first couple days of November. By then, based on our WILLINGNESS over this period to align our TASKS with our SOULS, we will be JOINING with others on a similar level as we begin working WITH each other rather than FOR each other!

So, over this period, if we just focus on OUR piece of the puzzle, we will NATURALLY and effortlessly join FORCES with like-minded souls as WE begin making the difference we had always DREAMED we could make! And, in the process, we will be HEALING the world...PEACE by PIECE...;)

Venus Retrograde: Taking the Best and Leaving the Rest

Unlike, Mercury which shifts into retrograde motion roughly three times every calendar year, Venus only shifts into this phase approximately once every 18 months or so giving us an opportunity to CONNECT to the highest VALUE of our soul ESSENCE!

This is why these periods tend to be times when we are reviewing our RELATIONSHIPS with the PEOPLE, PLACES and ACTIVITIES that occupy most of our time. Time is PRECIOUS after all and its better spent engaging with the people, places and activities that SUPPORT our souls rather than with those which indenture our bodies and energies in fulfilling the expectations of what others want FROM us.

It's one of THOSE summers I guess!..like the summers of 2007, 1999 or even 1991 to be more specific. This is because the planet Venus has an 8-yr synodic cycle and from late July through early September of those years, Venus shifted into retrograde motion in nearly the EXACT same degrees as it will over roughly the same period this summer!

Does this mean that we can expect a complete DEJA VU of our experiences from these summers of the past? Not exactly. Though we CAN expect that a similar part of our lives WILL be under review and contemplation with regards to the themes of RELATIONSHIP in every facet of our lives. What kinds of job changes, relationship adjustments and/or moves etc. did we experience during the mid-late summers of 1991, 1999 and/or 2007?

This year, Saturn has returned to the sign of Scorpio (June 14 - Sep 17) which covers the entire Venus retrograde period and suggests that this time our contemplations will run VERY DEEP and involve some PERMANENT endings on certain levels! We will be PURGING potentially decades worth of bad HABITS and erroneous 'signals to the universe' that we are NOT WORTHY. The hard and honest TRUTH as to WHY we have made unconscious choices to dishonor our own VALUE and WORTHINESS just may be REvealed! And, with conscious attention, REleased for ALL time...past, present AND future!

In addition to Saturn hovering over the final degrees of Scorpio during this period, Venus will also form a long-term conjunction with Jupiter in Leo/Virgo, a trine to Uranus in Aries and a square to Saturn in Scorpio/Sagittarius. These aspects have already initiated and will be active through mid-late October.

These next three months will provide us with the opportunities to METHODICALLY release all of the people, places and things in our lives that are no longer VALUABLE to us on our now more authentic personal journeys!

Sometimes when its time to LET GO, life swoops in and takes us by surprise forcing us to adapt to losses that are GOOD for us but which we could not see for ourselves at the time. And yet we often find that we feel GRATEFUL that things worked out the way that they did...if only in RETROspect.

Ironically, RETROspect will be unnecessary during this Venus RETROgrade period as the REleases we experience are likely to be the result of CAREFUL deliberation and CONSCIOUS choice rather than as the result of shocking adaptations to life's surprises!

Like going through the closet, we are spending the next three months sifting through the various COMPONENTS of ourselves and making conscious decisions regarding what was NEVER ours and needs to be RELEASED and what IS ours and needs to be re-INTEGRATED within ourselves in order for us to experience our WHOLENESS and the HEALING that results from it!

The more authentic and SOVEREIGN we have become, the more the universe is asking us to be ACCOUNTABLE for the lives that we create as a result of our own conscious DECISIONS! And with these decisions we are ensuring that we are EXPANDING our ability to EXIST as unique entities that SERVE the world in ways that absolutely SUPPORT our SOULS!

On a global level, the star Regulus moved into the sign of Virgo in early 2012 and signified a major shift in POWER STRUCTURES in the world. Regulus had been in the sign of Leo for over 2,000 years going back to the start of the Roman Empire! And the Roman Empire modeled EXACTLY what we would expect in terms of how POWER has been structured from that point forward. Everything from gender inequalities, endless war to competitive exploitation and sexual debauchery have all represented LEOnian power paradigms.

And perhaps these attributes were most pronounced in the world between the late 1930's through 2012 when Regulus occupied the 'critical degree' (i.e the last degree) of Leo and this energy tendency was AMPLIFIED. Just look at how much POWER (i.e. money) we have allowed to go to the '1%' and how much access to this money/power we have given to celebrities who COMPETE for a living (i.e. sports) and who glamorize and alter their bodies (i.e. Hollywood)! Not too mention that nuclear weapons were first detonated during this amplified LEOnian power period as well!

However, with Regulus now in Virgo, we are only a few years into an over 2,000 year period that promises to be VERY different than any of us currently living have experienced! VIRGOan power paradigms involve VALUING power through outlets like HEALING, common sense negotiation, feminine principles, environmental consciousness and SERVICE to humanity. And though it may take a couple of generations to SHAKE off the Leonian paradigms of power from our psyches (i.e. 'that's just the way it is'), we can be sure that the shifts of perspectives will TRICKLE into our awareness over time despite any lack of conscious EFFORT to enact them. After all a 'toning down' of Leonian expectations for 'flashy' beauty is already being expressed through the higher degree of acceptance of 'plus-sized' models over the past few years, for example.

And with Venus poised to 'station' within 1° of Regulus in Virgo in late July as it begins its shift into retrograde motion, it will be the first time any planet has stationed retrograde on Regulus since it entered Virgo! In addition, Jupiter will be entering Virgo on August 11 and hovering over Regulus through August 15 while the Moon's north node backs into Virgo in a conjunction to Mars in mid-late November just after Venus passes over Regulus in Virgo for the second time in three months! So, there certainly is a SHIFT in global consciousness toward more VIRGOan principles and power paradigms over the next few months!!

What does this mean? It means that for the first time since Regulus entered Virgo in early 2012, the world is FINALLY ready to begin the AWAKENING process toward this new more gentle POWER PARADIGM as we begin to EXPAND our services to the world from our most AUTHENTIC and realistic spaces. We are realizing that we no longer need to 'fake it until we make it' as with the Leonian days as we can RELEASE all that is NOT who we are and EMBRACE all that our RAWness IS!

On our journeys, it's now time to 'take the best and leave the rest' behind! REmember that a RE-lease is just that...a NEW LEASE on life...but we can only achieve it if we are willing to REnegotiate the terms of that lease.

Sure the world has a long way to go to transform completely into a new paradigm of power, but by October we should begin to become AWARE of this shift that has already occurred within the global power paradigm...

Venus governs forms of 'value exchange' like MONEY, so I would expect to see perhaps a dramatic SHIFT in how money is VALUED, counted and shared. Could we be on the verge of a COLLAPSE of the old system that has allowed 1% of the world to control such an unrepresentative portion of the worlds total resources? With us as individuals RESETTING our own personal sense of self-WORTH and VALUE during these next few months, perhaps the world may be poised to RESET its own value of resources...whatever happens, it should be INTERESTING!

MERCURY RETROGRADE: Remembering Universal Connection Amidst the Illusion of Separation

In the practice of Astrology, there is probably no planetary scenario that renders more FEAR and negativity on a more frequent basis than that of the planet Mercury shifting into 'retrograde' motion. This APPARENT reverse motion occurs roughly three times per calendar year and is actually just an ILLUSION as the planet is really just completing its revolution around the far-side of the Sun relative to our Earthly perspective. Mercury revolves around the Sun approximately three times in one calendar year on Earth. So, for roughly a three-week period, three times per year, Mercury moves in 'apparent' reverse motion through the zodiac before returning to forward motion once again.

The archetype that 'connects' us in terms of communication and/or distance (i.e. travel) is said to be governed or 'ruled' by the planet Mercury in the practice of Astrology. So, when Mercury is in reverse motion and essentially 'leaving its post' at the helm of all that relates to CONNECTIVITY in the world, the logical conclusion is that this theme of life on Earth will be DISRUPTED. And a quick web search on 'Mercury Retrograde' is bound to bring up copious writings from various sources referring to these time periods as if they are to be AVOIDED like the plague for this very reason. However, we cannot avoid these times regardless of their reputation for being periods when our CONNECTION devices may go haywire or cease to operate altogether.

Some of these 'devices of connection' include but are not limited to the following:
-Phones
-Computers
-Automobiles
-Schedules
-Pipes
-Wires
-Nervous system (i.e. our brains and the CLARITY of information exchange in general)

As a practitioner of Astrology for over a decade, I have to admit that in my experience, these times DO seem to correlate with an increase in disruption in terms of things like lost information, scheduling mishaps, automotive hiccups, computer crashes and the like. Despite this, I disagree with the general PERCEPTION that these seemingly 'negative' experiences do not serve an overall positive purpose in our lives.

Let me explain...

In my opinion, ALL IS CONNECTED. So, to me the planet Mercury actually governs the ILLUSION OF SEPARATION that we 'take on' during our Earthly experiences. And if we are never REALLY separated from the ALL, then it is only a PERCEPTION that we REQUIRE devices in order for us to experience CONNECTIVITY on Earth. So, these ILLUSORY time periods of Mercury moving in retrograde motion can be perceived as periods when the ILLUSION OF SEPARATION is being temporary lifted. And it is this lifting of the 'veil' of separation that renders devices that require SEPARATION in order to function to instead temporarily struggle with proper operation.

In the movie Forest Gump (1994), there is a scene where Forest is running from the school bullies while wearing his leg braces which were intended to straighten out his back and to help him 'connect space' (i.e. move about by walking). Its only during this time of APPARENT struggle that he realizes that his braces are unnecessary and, in fact, HINDERING his ability to 'connect space' even FASTER (i.e. running)! Forest's stressful encounter is similar to the stress that we may experience when we suddenly NEED to make a CONNECTION using one of our devices during a Mercury retrograde only to discover that they are malfunctioning and that their 'malfunctioning' is suddenly getting IN the way of our intended connections!

From this perspective, a Mercury Retrograde period is nothing more than a reminder of our unwavering CONNECTION to the universe by affording us the OPPORTUNITY to recognize the ultimate futility of our connection devices which only operate in a space where SEPARATION is a 'reality' and which actually HINDER our intentions for TRUE connections.

Mercury's propensity to remove the veil of separation while in apparent retrograde motion is also why Mercury Retrograde periods have been associated with time periods of improved INTROSPECTION and why people born during these periods seem to have a easier ability to connect WITHIN themselves. As it is only by going within that we TRULY can connect to our HEARTS which is our own personal portal to our connection with the ALL anyway.

Along with introspection, Mercury Retrograde periods are also invaluable for helping us FINISH things in our lives as we can more easily obtain closure with projects, relationships and any other unfinished business. From this new perspective, the reason for easier 'completion' during these periods is that we are actually being RE-connected to those creations that have gone by the wayside. Its as if all perceived BARRIERS (i.e. distance, visibility etc) are removed temporarily allowing us to RAPIDLY address any unfinished business. That sounds like a POSITIVE attribute of Mercury Retrograde periods to me!

So, as Mercury moves in retrograde motion, the ILLUSION OF SEPARATION is temporarily dissolved and we are simultaneously INVITED to RE-connect to the universe as the 'devil's' perceptions of separation are revealed to be unfounded.

Its no wonder the symbol for Mercury looks like it has 'devil horns'!!..Lord, lead us NOT into the temptation of SEPARATION ;).

On a more predictive note, all three Mercury Retrograde periods in 2015 will occur entirely within the three 'air signs' of the zodiac. Air signs represent our SOCIAL connectivity and EXCHANGE of information and ideas. So, using this new perspective on Mercury Retrogrades, 2015 is an opportune time to take advantage of these periods (see below) to RE-CONNECT to the universal TRUTHS about our selves on a collective level.

These will also be times when SECRETS can be revealed to the masses as previous DEVICES (i.e. lies, lack of transparency, media manipulation etc.) intended to separate us from the TRUTH are rendered less operable!

Mercury Retrograde periods for 2015:

Jan 21 - Feb 11 (0 - 17 degrees Aquarius)

May 18 - June 11 (5 - 13 degrees Gemini)

Sep 17 - Oct 9 (1 - 16 degrees Libra)

Walking the Talk and Living in Authentic Wholeness

After a rewarding 5 years of interpreting the astrological charts for other individuals and assisting them in aligning with their personal truth in an empowered way, it is now time for ME to finally 'walk my talk'.

My path is just not that of a personal 'counselor' and I know that now. My sensitivity is my greatest gift and it has assisted many clients with whom I have worked and yet, in the best interest of my own path and my own health, I realize that this sensitivity is better applied toward collective empowerment. My nature is that of an educator and a 'reflector' of truth so that others have the opportunity to interpret the truth for themselves. My own astrology chart has assisted me with this self-understanding.

At some point, I may decide to TEACH others HOW to interpret their own charts and how to use their own charts as a navigation tool for self-understanding and empowerment for themselves personally and/or collectively.
